440C stainless steel, a high carbon stainless steel. Known for having a high strength with a moderate resistance to corrosion. This steel has a good edge retention due to the mix of carbon and chromium. After heat treatment, it has the highest strength, hardness, and wear resistance of all the stainless alloys.
